Gallery Forty-Two

Gallery Forty-Two, nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, is a historic wedding venue that combines the charm of the past with the luxury of the present. Originally constructed in the 1830s, it holds the distinction of being the oldest surviving commercial building in the city. The venue underwent a meticulous renovation in 2014, thanks to the efforts of Philadelphia philanthropists Jim and Linda Hunter. Today, it is owned by businessman and two-time Olympian Bill Kessler, who has successfully maintained its legacy while elevating it to a premier event space. Whether hosting weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, galas, or fundraisers, Gallery Forty-Two provides a unique setting that captivates guests with its blend of retro elegance and modern amenities.

Spanning over 3,000 square feet across four floors, Gallery Forty-Two offers a versatile space that can accommodate up to 120 guests, making it perfect for intimate yet sophisticated gatherings. The ground floor is a stunning hall adorned with wood wainscoting, crown molding, and hardwood floors, all illuminated by exquisite two-tiered chandeliers. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the curated selection of paintings and statues that can be tailored to match the theme of any event. A grand staircase ascends to the mezzanine, where guests can enjoy drinks from the built-in bar while taking in the view of the celebration below. The venue’s top floors feature industrial-chic suites with exposed brick walls, antique furnishings, and crystal chandeliers, providing a stylish and comfortable space for wedding parties to prepare. Additionally, a well-equipped kitchen is available for caterers to craft delectable hors d’oeuvres and meals.

Gallery Forty-Two offers exclusive access to the entire venue for eight hours, allowing couples to fully immerse themselves in their special day. The venue provides three distinct wedding packages tailored to different needs and guest list sizes. The most comprehensive package includes essential amenities such as 100 black folding chairs, 20 four-foot round tables, 12 cocktail tables, and black linens. Couples will also have access to two antique wooden gifts and display tables, 12 full-spectrum uplights, an AV projector and microphone, and a custom monogram projector. To enhance the celebration, a modular dance floor is available, and couples can schedule a two-hour rehearsal before the event. With its historic charm, modern facilities, and comprehensive offerings, Gallery Forty-Two is an ideal choice for any couple seeking a memorable and elegant wedding experience.
