Crystal Ballroom at The Burt

Nestled in the historic district of downtown Hutchinson, Kansas, The Crystal Ballroom at The Burt stands as a testament to timeless elegance and rich history. Originally built in 1901, this iconic building was once home to the Shaw Theatre and has since been repurposed multiple times, including as a cafe and auto repair shop. In 2017, the structure was acquired with plans to transform it into a museum, but the allure of its original grandeur led to the reopening of the Crystal Ballroom, now a premier venue for weddings and receptions. The venue’s charm and historical significance make it an attractive choice for couples seeking a unique setting for their special day.

The nearly 15,000-square-foot venue offers a variety of spaces to accommodate different aspects of a wedding celebration. The main ballroom, adorned with glittering Maria Theresa chandeliers and original maple floors, can host up to 190 guests for a seated dinner. The space is further enhanced by exposed brick walls, which add a modern, industrial flair to its classic elegance. For larger gatherings, the adjoining Empire Room can be opened up, increasing the total capacity to 250 guests. The venue also features the Foxtrot Lounge and Tango Parlor, which serve as get-ready rooms or quiet retreats during the event. The Tango Parlor even includes a private powder room for the wedding party’s convenience. A fully-equipped commercial kitchen is available for caterers, ensuring that meal service is both efficient and seamless.

For couples looking to host both their ceremony and reception at the same location, the Crystal Ballroom offers the newly added Rhapsody on B space. This elegant setting, complete with chandeliers, exposed brick, and walnut flooring, comfortably seats up to 250 guests for a memorable ceremony. Following the nuptials, guests can proceed directly to the Crystal Ballroom for the reception and dance, creating a cohesive and convenient event flow. The venue’s design and amenities ensure that every aspect of the celebration is imbued with sophistication and style.

To further enhance the wedding planning experience, The Crystal Ballroom at The Burt provides a range of services aimed at making the big day as stress-free as possible. Couples can utilize event planning software to assist with coordination, while various amenities are available to elevate the entertainment quality. A projector and screen allow for personalized touches, such as displaying monograms or cherished photos. The venue supplies tables, Chiavari chairs, and specialized seating for cocktail receptions, along with a white throne-style loveseat perfect for capturing memorable photos. These thoughtful additions, combined with the venue’s stunning aesthetics, ensure a wedding that is both beautiful and effortlessly managed.
